Start small, grow in proportion
Hutch Ventures builds focused companies, one at a time. A hutch is where young things are raised; that's what we do with ideas.
Small bets that compound
Our mark is a square cut into tiles at golden-ratio points. Each tile is about 1.618 times the size of the next, the proportion behind growth spirals in shells and sunflowers.
The smallest pieces form a small H. Hutch is where it starts.
Graham Hutchinson
Graham founded Hutch Ventures and builds its products, starting with Sail Tactician. His background is in startups and agile teams, where he learned to solve hard problems with limited means and to fix processes rather than blame people.
Hutch's leadership philosophy, learn, lead, serve, was inspired by his early academic years.
Learn, lead, serve
Learn constantly, lead by example, and serve the people we build for and with.
What we stand for
How we treat people
- 1Respect, always.People first: founders, team and partners. Brilliance never excuses bad behavior.
- 2Tell the truth.Integrity and honesty, including bad news, and early.
- 3Fix the process, not the person. When something breaks, we look at the system first and keep improving it.
How we work
- 4Make it work.Creative problem solving with limited means. Constraints are a design brief, not an excuse.
- 5Do it well, big or small.Craft in everything, from a product to a one-line email. Good design shows we care.
- 6Keep it in proportion. We balance speed with quality and ambition with sustainability.
